Role: Co-founder | Creative Director
Mehmooni London was founded in 2019 as an immersive musical home for Iranian and SWANA (Middle-East North Africa) artists. An event series that reimagined the idea of a "home away from home" and how music, community and dance was a big part of this story. A space that enabled Iranian artists to express themselves through a richer plethora of music they grew up with and love and connected artists across the diaspora. The curation ranged from mixed-genre nights encompassing Iranian and electronic music with diverse artists from singing-songwriting, electronic live performance, DJing and production backgrounds.
As creative director/co-founder, I led on artistic curation and promotional strategy, as well as event production, branding, design and artist management. Commissioning creatives and liasing with collaborators and venues to realise each show concept.
We sold out shows at iconic venues such as Village Underground and Colour Factory. As well as intimate east-London spaces such as The Jago and Five Miles.
A unique space and first of its kind to champion a space for Iranian and SWANA communities in London club culture.
